How would you have sentenced the Broward County Seven?

If you were the judge or on the jury, what sentences would you have passed on the perpetrators/conspirators?

After reviewing the facts of the case and some court documents, I think that I would have upheld the initial convictions - death sentence for Puccio (though the thought of the suffering that this could cause his parents would have probably prevented me from sticking to my guns), life without parole for Kaufman and Semenec, etc.

Marty, Donnie and Derek (the Hitman) would all get the death penalty, as they were the ones who actually committed the murder.

Lisa would get life in prison for planning the murder.

Ali, Derek (the Cousin) and Heather would each get less than five years, plus several years probation since they didn't actually carry out the murder, along with the fact that they all testified.

Derek Dzvirko was in line for the lightest sentence as Heather got, except he blew his deal a little when on the witness stand at the Puccio trial...he inexplicably tried to lie in response to one important question asked by DA Donnelly.

It cost him 4 years added to his official sentence, for being a wise-guy.....

although in the event, he was not released very much later than Swallers was..

reply

Wow, 4 YEARS for one lie? Perjury should be for punished for sure, but damn...

reply

well, four years for one lie, depends how you look at it, right?

point is, he broke his deal or he did whilst doing that part, he perjured himself or contradicted what he had already tell them...so maybe rather than ADDING 4 years...
...they kind of just re-discounted the discount, and re-gave him four years that had been there on the table at the beginning.

Anyway, him and Swallers got the best sentences, and although 4 years was added to Dzvirko, like I said, he did not serve 4 years more than Swallers did, a little more but not that much more...so in time served, it only maybe made a few months or a years difference anyway..

reply

I'd have given them all twenty years max

I was waiting for my hearse what came next was so much worse

reply

problem is I am not sure if you can factor in 'victim was a total psycho dirtbag anyway" in official sentencing...

His fking parents (middle-easterners, and so was Bobby himself) would have no doubt gone ballistic if their sweet little son Bobby had gone on victim-trial...
