Couldn't help but think of the movie Alpha Dog. Very similar themes; kids living on drugs,gangsta rap, moral numbness and delusions of "thug life".
Also, I thought of Spring Breakers as well.
Basic losers were the focus of all of them. Why can't they do movies about kids who get good grades, go to college and become billionaires? Why waste film on these nowhere bums who get wrapped up in crime?

I'll have to look into the other films you mentioned, but why don't they make movies about the other kind that you mentioned?
Why is the 6pm news mostly wars, disasters, murders and crimes?
Besides, directors are endeavouring showing us problems in our society which are real and may require our attention, or maybe there is really nothing we can do except feel superior to a bunch of stupid kids like this,and that certainly comes in with me when I watch it, or read the book, but aren't movies for issues?
Aren't dysfunctional lost youth with seriously fkd up values an issue?
Having this brought to our attention, aren't we liable to say, well, how can we help with others like these, or at least, if we have kids, this kind of thing is something we need to watch out for?
