Oops! A continuity error in today's (24 Nov 2015) ep of 'Doctors' ! ,-)

I thought the same as you, Darkshines.

Yes, all the soaps film at least two or three months in advance of when we see them but they are meticulously planned to be set when they are meant to be on our screens. I don't think Doctors would film November episodes in July, but even if they did, the characters would still act like they were in November. Perhaps the way Niamh (or the script writer) phrased the line was clumsy but I still maintain that she meant it would be weird to have Christmassy stuff on display in the summer. Playing back that scene, here are the lines:

Mrs Tembe: "I have a much more salubrious idea, The 12 Days of Christmas."

Niamh: "Sorry, isn't that a bit weird? To be thinking about partridges and turtle doves in July?" (The inflection in her voice when she said 'July' sounded to me like she picked that month as an example).

Emma: "She's right, it's too season-specific." (This clinches it for me. Niamh had been using July as an example for Emma to have said that, i.e, Niamh made them realise a Christmas calendar would be inappropriate at other times of the year.)

The reason you once saw snow in some episodes set in July was there was freak weather in April - they wouldn't have had any choice but to use the footage they had filmed outdoors, despite it being set in the summer. They even had one character say a line about it being 'funny weather for this time of year'.

How the heck can the scene in the kitchen have been set in July when Jimmi has only just taken up photography? The whole idea of the calendar was only mooted because of this new hobby of his.

Further more, Mrs Tembe only put forward the idea of going for a Christmas theme because it's a month away. Who even thinks of creating a calendar for charity all the way in the summer anyway? Nobody is in the market to buy a calendar until the end of a year, hence the scene was definitely set for round about now. Try and think logically, for heaven's sake.
