He looked to be very uninterested in everything that was going on. I thought it was a bit strange seeing as i know he is a good actor. maybe i'm misinterperating his looks. maybe some parts are supposed to be lustful but somehow just look bored. but that doesn't explain all the other parts away.

He did seem to be in a different movie maybe. The rest was cutesy quirky, and he was more serious. I thought him and Juliette Binoche had zeerroooo chemistry. So when they kissed and stuff, I even cringed. It wasn't believable to me that he would have been in to her character, sexually attracted.

The truth be told Johnny Depp flatters to deceive as an actor, because he's not that great and often chooses his roles to hide his hammyness.
But I thought he did ok in this, but the strange thing was it kind of felt flat when he was in it and was much better before he turned up and after he disappeared.

I agree, maybe if he'd smuggled a couple of dogs into the village he may have seemed a little more interested in what was going on.
shareI thought the same.I usually like him in movies but in this one he seemed like he didn't care for the result.His relationship with Vianne was somehow forced.I didn't really like the fact that he came back in the end.(In a weird way I would prefer to see a romance/friendship between Vianne and the mayor and how she made him change.That's how much I didn't like Johnny's performance and character :P )
