IS IT ANTI-CATHOLIC? GOOD!

Religion is just so much baloney. Even though it would be impossible for a Catholic or Christian to look at their religion from a logical perspective, it might do them some good to try, anyway. It's 'fear' that keeps most from doing that. It's a circular fear that is used by the church to keep their congregations in-line.

It's hard to believe that in the 21st Century, thoughtful people will still devote their lives trying to get in to an afterlife that seems to be pure fantasy. Being asleep, going 'under' for surgery, should be enough to let us know that when this life is done with us, it's over, completely. And it's both silly and ridiculous to believe (think) that one's religion, out of all the religions throughout history, is the only correct one.

Watching religion, from a non-religious perspective such as mine, makes religion seem actually funny and incredibly bizarre. Millions of people wearing Jesus's murder weapon on chains around their necks, men (so many of them gay), on the pulpit dressed in what looks like Elvis's Las Vegas stage clothing, admonishing their flocks that the words in an ancient book, which is filled with contradictions and fantasy, is absolute truth.

Religion is big business, especially the Catholic church, which has land holdings that would make Alexander the Great jealous. In St. Peter's church, there's actually tons and tons of gold, doing absolutely nothing to help the needy.

So, next time you're in church, pretend that the priest or minister is no more than a teacher at a very expensive private school of mythology. For they are really nothing more than that when they stand there before you. And if you're brave, ask your priest what the church will be doing with all that gold, the hoards of money the church has but doesn't use, and all that elaborate artwork that could bring billions of dollars to help those that really need it.

And the worst thing, is that in order to keep their high jobs, these people influence our congressmen, our laws and our progressive society in conservative ways that may seem good for us, but lessen our ability to really help those that need our help. These so-called christians spend so much of their energy trying to keep those that need help, from getting that help. And look how stupid the conservative people in Kentucky are: they hate Obamacare and want to get rid of it. But their new healthcare program recently set up in Kentucky is loved and adored by the people of Kentucky. And what is that program? It's Obamacare, just renamed to probably fool the Kentuckians. Senator McConnell (and I use the word senator with a truck load of salt) says he wants to rid the nation of Obamacare, but he won't answer the questions put to him about getting rid of the state's healthcare program. He's a magician, just like the priests and ministers of this country. Keeping the religious in our nation from looking behind that curtain.

Your life must be empty to make you need to attack religion and other people`s belief. bless your little heart.

This is a hilarious rant full of cliches but it doesn't belong on imdb. The film is not anti catholic. Anyone who has seen Tartuffe would know the difference between anti religion and anti hypocrisy . Remember is the cure who at the end leads the flock to a better understanding of truer catholic values.

There are many affordable types of treatment available for those time when one finds obsessions ruining one's life. I do hope you find a forum which can help you.

This one however is reserved for folks who wish to discuss films; it is not for topics such as mental issues.

Thanks, bigot. I enjoy reading an idiot's words from time to time and your passage goes a long way.

At least, in the Catholic Church, you have Communion and you get to use, keeping on the candy topic, Necco wafers if you do not care for the wafers LOL.

Wowwwwww...

I think that you must have entirely missed the point of this film.

It's really about the church learning to accept the woman and her child not to say that all churches wouldn't.

In this little town, there was a lot of control, and most of it forced onto people not by the church but by the count, who forced his own agenda on the church and people.

There is such a deeper message.

Oh yeah and I am a bible believing Christian, and nothing could convince me that Jesus doesn't exist.

We DO look at our religion critically (the bible says to) and have come to a different conclusion than you. That doesn't make either of us stupid. Just differing.

there may or may not be an afterlife, but I can't see how being asleep or being anaesthetised proves there isn't one. Ypu are not dead in either of those cases.
