Goofs in 'goofs'

There are several comments in the 'goofs' section here, but I don't know how to correct them, so I'll just detail them here:

Revealing mistakes: In the scenes taking place on the ice rink in central park, the skaters are wearing in-line skates rather than ice skates.

The first skating scene is with Jon & Sara; it's Christmas, the ice rink is indeed 'ice'. The next time it appears is 7 years later, and it's SPRING. The 'ice rink' doesn't have ice, obviously, it's a concrete base and everyone is wearing in-line skates. (For the record, the film was shot in July & August, and the 'ice rink' was fake ice, a linoleum-like product imported from Canada, on which you can ice skate.)

Revealing mistakes: Towards the end of the film a remark is made about "what happened to Spring?" referencing the rather mild weather. This scene appears to have been (re-)shot during the warmer months as many of the locals in the distance are wearing shorts and T-shirts yet everyone in the foreground has a few layers on (though not too many to appear ridiculous), however it's snowing later that day (or the next).

As noted above, the entire film was shot in July & August. There were a few reshoots, but none in the winter (They were done in March, IIRC). The shots were peppered with extras wearing heavier clothing, but you can see locals in short sleeves in the background. The script required that Sara be wearing a jacket, so she could leave it in the park for Jon to find the next day.

Continuity: SPOILER: At the beginning of the movie when Sara and Jonathan meet at Bloomingdales for the first time, Sara's hair is styled straight across at the neck. When they re-meet at the ice skating rink at Central Park she has a shorter cut. But when they are back to Bloomingdales at the end of the movie her hair is the same as it was in the beginning of the movie. They probably filmed the beginning and the end of the movie at the same time before Kate Beckinsale had her hair cut.

According to the director, the final shot was supposed to be Jon & Sara kissing on the ice rink, but someone suggested the alternate ending (Jon & Sara in the department store). It's also worth noting that the original opening scenes of Jon & Sara were scrapped and re-shot (they meet, they fight over the glove, they stand in line at Serendipity, they have the chocolate drink) with completely different script, so it's possible that Sara's longer hair is "Hollywood magic." Dunno, really.

FWIW, the Sara and Eve 'birthday cake' scene is shot in the actual Serendipity restaurant, but the Sara and John "frozen chocolate drink' meeting was shot last, on the third floor of Serendipity in a set created to look exactly like it did downstairs. (It was originally shot in the restaurant, but when they decided to scrap it and reshoot, they went upstairs.) -- according to the Director's commentary.

Thanks for correcting the record. I read these so-called "goofs" too and thought the contributor was missing the point---especially about the in-line skates.

about Sara's hair...
she had three hairstyles. the original hair, kinda frizzy. the second, "re-meet" hair, shorter, not so frizzy, and the final "Bloomingdale's" hair.
i always took the change to show the passing of time. the final shot is much later than the re-meet at the ice rink. thats why her hair is different. No?
