He was the best part of the movie. Did anyone else get teary eyed when Jer got teary eyed cuz he thought he saw Sara effing another guy? He loved his best friend so much that it hurt him too. I loved Jer & John Cusak's relationship in this movie, def saved the film.
i hope you choke on your bacardi & coke! *Team Landa*

No, I didn't get misty at the house, but I did get misty when Jonathan was reading his obit. Oh that was the BEST part of the movie. I love Jeremy Piven now - I am going to seek him out. I loved his delivery, I loved his relationship with Jonathan - I absolutely loved it!!!
I hadn't thought about their relationship really being the primary in the movie. You would think it was Jonathan and Sarah, but really there were 3 primary relationships: Jonathan and Sarah, Jonathan and Dean and Sarah and Eve.
The goal object of the movie is obviously Jonathan and Sarah, but the most interesting and enjoyable relationship and the one, I think keeps bringing me back is Jonathan and Dean. Sarah and Eve's relationship seems implausible, contrived and just not genuine - almost spoiled the film - come to think of it, ditto the relationship with her "fiance" too.
Jer's little speech on the plane (BEFORE getting to the place when he thought he saw Sara effin' someone) got me...the whole "it died man, we DIED!" and points to his & John's heart with "we didn't have THIS!"....felt very genuine.
I'll fess up, brought me to tears because I'm just finishing up an 18 year marriage and it hit home. We hardly fought, she was my best friend...and yet, here we are at the end. 😢
---- Im gonna punch you in the cooter, I swear to God!
Yeh - I really like Piven - very under-rated actor - just don't see enough of him,in movies
And yeh - the best buddy relationship between the two guys is great and so natural. The way Cusack plays off Pivens wry humor and the comedic timing is perfect ...
