Does Oceans 11 Draw from any classic literature?

I'm searching for a story in classic literature that has a similar trick or heist that is in Oceans Eleven. A story where someone is tricked into believing that their belongings are stolen, but in reality it's an illusion and a red herring for someone to actually steal their belongings.

Any ideas?

There also are elements of Galsworthy's THE FORSYTE SAGA, the Book of Revelations, Jack Kerouac's ON THE ROAD, and Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal For Preventing The Children of Poor People in Ireland From Being A Burden to Their Parents or Country, and For Making Them Beneficial to The Public."

And Hugh Hefner's "The Playboy Philosophy."
