why didnt livingston take the pocket computer with him?

i mean if it didnt need to be stored in that computer room, why didnt he just take it with him? surely he knew the risk of someone finding it

That was a device to purely add a bit of tension when the other guy chased after him with it, making you think he might have been caught. A bit cheesy, but it works!
