After Danny says this to Rusty, they recruit Linus. Since they weren't sure about getting an 11th who would have done the pickpocketing if they didn't bring Linus in as the 11th person? Seems like it would have made more sense if that 11th person didn't have a specific, important job in the heist.

I think they just wanted a wild card person with at least one skill that wasn't in the group yet. They didn't know they would need to lift the codes off of Benedict at that point. They got that info from Linus' observations of Benedict in the casino. Just great coincidence that Linus' primary skill was exactly what they would need. This movie is chock full of magical occurrences like that.
