Why did Matt Damon's character leave the van?

When they stole the pinch thing from the California institute why did Damon's character leave the van? And what did he do inside the building?

He can't stand to be with the brothers in the van. He even asks Clooney to not leave him with those two. They are constantly arguing, he's shown to get very uncomfortable during the scene and finally leaves. He looks for Clooney and the guys. They talk about it in the commentary too.

It’s just so sad that the variety of the world should be used as a contentious issue.

He wanted to join the others but was too late.

He wanted to join the others for that job from the beginning. Clooney was adamant that he stay put. After the ruckus inside the van he couldn't stand and wait outside cos anybody could spot him and that would look suspicious. Damon probably miscalculated the amount of time it required for the others to finish the job and ended up doing what he did.

Never mess up an apology with an excuse.

and it ended up being a very hilarious scene when they cut to him still in the hospital when they were all leaving, lol.

And an even more hilarious shot when he jumps on the van, they open the door, you see him rolling down windshield and then running around back into the van. That's probably my favorite part in the entire movie.

Do you really need to write "lol"??????

reply

Probably, yeah.
I can't say for certain, but I assume it's to signify that they found it funny.

"There was a hilarious scene...etc, etc, lol". This implies that the writer still finds the scene amusing, even as they reminisce and type out their comment.

It means "Laugh out loud", for those of us who don't know what it means or for those of us who would question why someone would include it in their message.

He simply couldn't stand being in the van with those two guys. I think it was a test from Danny.

I like to think that Damons character is always Jason Bourne and you can line it up with the events of the movie.

I heard Matt's intro in Oceans 13 was spoof on Bourne with the camera shaking and him walking around some European city being followed.

why was he there in the first place if he was just going to stay in the van anyway?

Sounds about right with the shaky cam. Matt Damon is fun to watch.
