Really? I love Cheadle, his films are great and he's a solid actor. But there's no reason for his character to be English. Did anybody on set say "guys, this accent is pretty ridiculous, overly stereotypical, and just stupid. Lets just make him American?" "NO!!! HE STAYS ENGLISH!!!" Anyone else annoyed by his painfully bad accent?

Wouldn't it have been simpler just to cast a British actor instead. They obviously wanted that diversity from across the pond.
Cheadle's a talented actor but he was really lent down by the character's forced, phony accent.

I think that's a fair take and largely how I remember feeling about the accent. I didn't feel that it was bad per se but just a bit forced. Probably didn't help that I was familiar with him as an actor and was accustomed to his regular speaking voice.
