Did Tai make the right call?

Seems like their tribe is really weak right now although with two teams going to tribal next week, maybe it doesn't matter now.

reply

No. Caleb offered strength at challenges and alliance material. Tai does not seem to be the sharpest tool in the shed. How he must be missing the chickens!

reply

Well Tai had to hitch his wagon to either Caleb or Culpepper... if they didn't have Debbie locked down then maybe he had no choice. As far as strength goes, had he gone the other way, they'd have to go after Culpepper the next time so this tribe is in trouble no matter how you slice it. It seems with both bottom teams going to tribal... the smaller tribe is more likely to keep getting smaller also. If Tai saw JT catch the goats he would've put a huge target on his back by freaking out instead of allowing the others to carefully diffuse the situation.

reply

Okay, now I'm imagining Tai just WATCHING the episode, seeing the goats captured...

reply

It's funny how most of us eat hamburger and kebabs without thinking yet somehow we can't bear to watch this on television. Unpleasant as she was, Sandra probably was the only one who wasn't a hypocrite. The next reward challenge they'll all be frothing at the mouth to eat protein for which someone else has done the dirty work.

reply

I'm more intrigued that it's emotionally easier to kill a chicken than a goat.

reply

Well as fellow mammals, it's naturally harder to kill things closer on the evolutionary scale... but unless players (and viewers) are vegetarians, they should all put their pitchforks away.

reply

Actually, it is traditional to avoid killing females and babies unless a herd needs serious winnowing. But I doubt they'd have been able to kill a male goat, either.

reply

Yeah, I agree that it seemed to be particularly inhuman to separate a mother and child, but I'm sure all our food is filled with unknown atrocities.

reply

No, it's about quantity. Since one male can impregnate multiple females, you take the males, not the females. And you leave the baby to grow up so it yields more meat. Same reason you don't hunt in the spring. Babies are being delivered and raised. Not a prudent time to kill them off, or their providers. Again, this is based on a need to propagate the herd, not winnow it.

reply

Ah... that makes sense... thanks.

Govt. just passed a bill that makes it legal to shoot a bear in hibernation, babies too. 😢

reply

ah no

reply

I agree with your assessment here. Tai is a great guy but I don't think he is shrewd enough like the Queen to outsmart the big boys (girls).

reply

Tai certainly made a right call last night, YIKES! An entire tribe was fracked because of his idol move (with a little encouragement from tribemates of course), excellent television!
