What did you guys think of Lorelai's inn? Whenever I watch the show I'm always amazed by how beautiful it is especially in the episode where Sookie is staying there late to get some alone time. I would love to stay there. It's one of the most unrealistically gorgeous places. The kitchen is fantastic too and the reading area.

I actually hate it. Too much pattern wallpaper, too much nick-nacks standing about. I honestly don't see much difference to the Cheshire Cat Inn, which Lorelai hated very much. And then there's this jukebox in the downstairs lounge? The kitchen looks like a kitchen in a home. Professional kitchens aren't warm, and there certainly aren't window treatments next to the stove. Fire hazard everyone? Plus, it looks very small IMO. Huge fridge, a walk-in-fridge is mentioned, then only one stove and not much counter space. Rant over ;-)

I agree with you to an extent about the rooms, and fully about the kitchen! I am no chef, but even I'm annoyed at the lack of counter space and shelves. The Independence Inn had a much more realistic kitchen.
With regards to the room, maybe that is what people expect of Connecticut Inns? I'm with you, I'd prefer clean, spacious and minimalistic rooms!
You're going to suffer...but you'll be happy about it!
There's a jukebox? I didn't even notice it lol you have good attention to detail. Lorelai's just judgmental and liked the old place instead of the Cheshire cat.

Lorelai hated the mentality of those places, no? Plus the foil in the wallpaper. I don't remember any other critiques of the place. If anything, Lorelai liked the original Cheshire Cat's mismatched-ness. She wasn't impressed by the new owner's form. So it would make sense that the Dragonfly has an air of mismatched-ness. Even though the place is busy, I think there's a lovely feel to it all. I'd definitely stay there. With regards to the kitchen, it was strange for a professional kitchen to have wooden fixtures instead of stainless steel and to have only one stove and what looked like not much storage space. Then again, the show has always had an air of fantasy so it is fitting.
It's all a matter of taste. Someone might stay there, I probably wouldn't. In the script of the episode it becomes clear that the Cheshire Cat Inn doesn't look like it used to look under Lorelai's friend Donald's ownership. Lorelai also criticizes the amount of flowers in the room, not just the wallpaper's effect. There are flower patterns all over the Dragonfly. The kitchen in the Independence Inn looked way more realistic. So they showed they could do it right.

It is a bit too much to me as well. There is furniture I like, but it seems a bit cluttered at times and we never get to the rest of the property really, whereas with the Independence, the exterior was always shown and it was beautiful.
I do love the neat and elegant small town theme but if I am there it would be about the food, especially Sookie's risotto, then I am going to Luke's and order roasted duck and maybe burgers.

the kitchen looks more like a huge one at a private home, not at a professional venue. and there is lots of whimsical wallpaper at that inn but I really like the library.
Yeh I love it too, it has a lot of charm. The only thing that puzzles me is all the food in the kitchen, even saw a water melon on top of fridge with a slice out of it on one recent episode. The amount of food Sookie cooks for a 10 bedroom place is unbeleivable how do they make any money. Sorry i worked in hotels and cooked, and was head housekeeper of a big hotel and I find the amount of food left out all over the place weird lol.
Still i do love the inn, and the scene with Luke and Lorelai skating was one of my favorites. I so want them to end up together.
