Favorite emily scenes

I love it when emily reads lorelai deposition which cracks me up.

I like the scene where Emily and lorelai are on the phone and lorelai is saying how she couldn't attend her cousins wedding because she went to a cats wake,
Then Emily says something like well
I wouldn't want to hold you up. You probably have a caterpillars wedding to plan

At Rory's 21st birthday party. When she greets Luke and Lorelai and says to Luke 'Hello, Luke. I didn't know you were coming. I don't have a chocolate box for you. You'll have to share with Lorelai.' She says it in the most petty voice, like it was his dying wish to get a chocolate box, lol. I wish Lorelai would've done a bit with it. I love it when Emily's so obviously petty like that, since her craftiness is so mostly unnoticed, except by Lorelai.

Wildcattin'...Wildcattin'. Pow! I'm gonna go.

The mall scene where she goes on a massive spree and eats fast food. And the episode where she gets drunk with Lorelai. Both times she has intimate moments with her daughter and I like that, considering the strained relationship they have.

I loved the fast food episode where emily is willing to try anything lorelai eats. The bachlorette party where she gets drunk is funny too

After finding Trix's letter, Lorelai finds her sitting on the couch, drinking, smoking, and reading a trashy novel in her nightgown. Some of her best lines...What would Pennilynn Lott do? Not sure of the exact words but also her comment about throwing cheese cubes in the coffin and toothpicks in her mouth and letting the mourners go to town.

I am not sure why, maybe it is my mean bone, but I think the scene where Emily and Lorelai go through Richards´stuff after the second heart attack. Emily goes on explaining that she is a Kanu and Lorelai is a Kayak. Emily talks about how divorce was a bad thing, but in Lorelai´s case it is not, because she is a Kayak and can live on her own and then Lorelai mumbles that she still wanted it to work out.
Then Emily pats her on the shoulder, like a little child that just dropped her ice cream or something and even says in a sweet little grandma voice "you gonna be fine".

reply

Oh, and forgot the best....Don't forget to thank Pennilynn Lott just for being Pennilynn Lott.

funny wise:
When Emily is playing the voicemail Lorelei left about getting married for the family.
Heartwarming wise:
After Christopher's parents have dinner at Emily and Richards and Emily consoles Rory by saying that her existence was never a disappointment (I can't remember exactly how she words it)

Too many to list: Kelly Bishop is an absolute scream in this role - she can say the nastiest things in such a casual, dead-pan way.

I love the joke about knowing a former nazi and when she reads the magazine article while the Russian dancer is there.

I love how she tears up at Lorelai's graduation. And when she comforts Rory after the dinner with Chris's parents.

But the absolute best Emily moment is, of course, her epic smackdown (not a phrase I like but the only way to describe it) of Shira Huntzberger at the WWII themed charity event. Ine of the best things I've seen on TV ever.

The looks on Emily and Richard's face when Lorelai graduates always makes me tear up.

I like the Scene in the mall episode where Rory and Lorelai try to hide from her.

YES! Emily was so good in that scene, and the later one during Friday night dinner when they tell Lorelai and Rory about it and she reenacts it.

Emily is a character that I hated when I first watched the GG, I thought she was so cold, cruel and controlling, but watching years later, she's probably my favorite character. So flawed and mistaken in how she did things, but fundamentally just wanting to love and be loved in return. She also had some of the best lines, often reminding me of the Dowager Countess on Downton Abbey.

I also love that USO show charity fundraiser episode for Paris Geller's role. Her family was broke at the time and she was so suddenly radical.

I loved her breakdown after Richard's mother dies. That is one of my favorite episodes.

"The end of the shoelace is called the...IT DOESN'T MATTER!"

"When a woman gives birth to a crack baby, you don't buy her a puppy ."

One of my favourites, lol!

reply

I love her line right before this also. "Who is this?" "This is you in twenty years!!" More truth in that than Lorelai probably wants to admit.

reply

Haha, yeah, that was hilarious!

reply

That is epic Emily :D

Officer, I've had a doozy of a day...
