Emily Moment

When she shows up to Asher Fleming's wake and is sitting and talking to Paris about Richard taking off that night mysteriously. Then a young man comes over and hands her a drink and she says, "Thank you Thomas. I'll need a napkin." The kid just smiles and nods like "sure coming right up older woman at this college party." Classic Emily. This sums her up to a tee. Kelly made her so effortlessly awesome.

Emily smoking a cigarette, drinking, and reading trashy novels when Trix died. I also love the scene in the mall and when she blurted out that Trix was dating a man in a tracksuit. And when they go eat at Lorelai's house in season 6. They have pasta a la Sookie and blinis lol.

When watching it for the first time, I was probably not that much impressed by it, but that scene in the food court is one of my all-time favorite Gilmore moments in general. We see Lorelai and Emily at the peak of their relationship. It's only going down from here. Emily admiring Lorelai who is just channelling her inner Emily? Come on, it doesn't get better than that! Because every other compliment Emily makes will immediately be outweighed by some sort of conflict, like in the episode with Rory's dance in s1.

Other great Emily moments beside the ones you guys mentioned already is when early on she sees right through Lorelai's and Luke's dance around each other. "You're idiots. The both of you." Amazing, since it also rectifies her earlier fear of not knowing her daughter at all.

Same! It's great to see the three Gilmore women just enjoying each other's company and having fun outside of the obligatory Friday Night Dinner. I love when Emily says that she's just admiring her mother and Rory says oh I do that daily. That's true Gilmore Girls to me, the first four seasons. We get great moments like this, comedy, and sprinkles of drama. I love that moment too with Emily noticing that they have feelings for each other. I love their scene in season 7 with Emily calling Lorelai a kayak. It doesn't last because as you said the writers preferred a compliment then conflict but it was a short but beautiful moment

In episode 3.10, all her faces of dispair At Trix's remarks, especially when they do the walkthrough At Lorelai's; her "nobody appreciates your sarcasm young lady" to Rory's "have fun!" is memorable.

Kelly's a superb actress, she truly conveys emotions in each scene she's in, even with just a subtle look.

My favorite Emily moment comes just before she is accidentally locked in the basement during her estrangement from Richard.

They are bickering, and he tells her: "Only prostitures have two glasses of wine at lunch."

She snaps at him: "Well then buy me a boa and drive me to Reno because I am open for business!"

You don't have to attend every argument you are invited to.

I loved the basement scene, too. My favorite moment was when Emily climbed out of the basement window and was standing outside only in her slip, and Richard's outrage over it. And then the neighbors call the police on them, lol.

I loved every scene where she and Richard danced together. They were fantastic.

I love the scene where Emily and Lorelai were modeling at a Chilton fundraiser, wearing matching outfits and moving around to "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." You could tell Lauren and Kelly were having such a good
time.

For me, the moment that always stood out to me, that I just went, "oh that is so Emily" is when they read an article about the woman they knew who killed her husband (stabbing him multiple times) and Lorelai's joking about that woman and how she was no longer a good person, and Emily just says,

"Well, at least she had a husband to kill."

Just thinking about it, I'm laughing.
