Melissa in the revival

Was it just me, or did Melissa McCarthy's voice change in the revival? During the original run of GG, Sookie always had such a pretty, feminine voice, but in AYITL her voice sounded kind of rough, like McCarthy's Bridesmaids character, Megan.

I think she's spent so long shouting and being coarse that it's affected her voice. Maybe her Sookie voice is put on and, due to only being back for one day, she didn't manage to find it? It was strange but then again, Emily sounded older, Lorelai has botox, Rory sounded older, Luke was wearing a toupee. Lots of things happened in the revival that age could explain.

People go through really obvious physical changes as "adults" in their late teens to mid-late 20s. So like with Alexis, because she was a teenager when the show began, of course her face, voice, body, and manners are different now that she's in her 30s. Milo, Matt, Jared, and Liza also fall into this category.

Another stage is when you're getting old, like after 65. (I don't think 65 is old! But, come on, it's not exactly young.) I think people go through physical changes at this stage as well. This is the case with Kelly, for example. So again, of course her voice has changed, she's lost a lot weight, etc. Liz Torres falls into this category as well.

But the cast members who were in their late 20s and 30s and 40s should not look so different that they don't feel like the same person anymore. So I think it is a little weird not hearing Sookie whe Melissa was speaking. So many of the cast members in this age group didn't have this problem. Michel sounded and looked like himself, Scott sounded and looked like himself, even Lauren, I think was exactly the same despite what most people say.

I think she phoned in her whole performance. It wasn't Sookie at all.

I agree with you, Snoopy. (Typing that just made me giggle haha). She didn't seem fully committed to the show. It was as if she walked in the room and decided to wing it, and just hope for the best; which is a shame because the fans deserve more than that.

Considering that Melissa was shoe-horned into the revival by ASP after fan outcry, I wouldn't have given my all either. ASP made this big announcement/judgement about Melissa McCarthy's availability before Melissa even said anything. And then Melissa had to shoot a press release to the media about being written out of the revival. ASP was really rude about the situation. Like assuming Melissa had an ego about returning to GG.
