Seasom 7 was better than Season 6

The only redeeming factor of Season 6 was Lane's wedding. That was beautifully done; honestly I could feel the love.

The rest of S6 was a mess. April, the fight between Lor & Rory, the cancelled wedding, TOO much Logan.. Honestly I wasn't suprised when the Palladino's were told to leave. I think they lost their 'mojo' so to speak at the end of S5 and were out of ideas.

I think S7, apart from the Lorelai and Chris relationship, was fine. NOT stellar but hey what do you expect, the show was ending.

In my eyes said ending was perfect, especially the entire town working together for Rory's sendoff. I loved the scene where Lorelai and Rory are greeted by everyone. Made me tear up.

I honestly think the Palladino's couldn't have written a better conclusion to their show. Rewatching GG made me realise S7 wasn't that bad..

Season 7 is definitely better because the writers attempted to do something with the characters. The Palladinos left the show in utter chaos and the new writers had a lot of things to fix. I loved the progression with Rory and Logan both as individuals and as a couple, Lorelai finally moved forward with her parents in a natural way, and the sendoff is just cheesy enough to work for this show. I think season 7 is very emotional to rewatch because we see a lot of strength and pain with Lorelai in particular. We see her try to move on from Luke, failing to do so at every turn, trying to turn Chris into the man she wants to want, deal with Rory leaving and having her own life, and finally coming back to Luke. One of my favorite scenes in season 7 is Emily telling Lorelai that she will be fine after her divorce because she's a kayak and then another favorite is the final scene with the Gilmores. Lorelai has an amazing moment with Richard and she finally realizes that Emily wants to loan her money to stay in her life but she chooses to go to Friday Night Dinners. I think they accomplished something that the Palladinos couldn't and wouldn't do which is progression. Gilmore Girls is about characters not plots. We get quirky town events that I adore and fun side characters but the Gilmore bond and that progression is the key to the show. ASP wants everyone to stay the same and that's what ruined the show.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I think it's more than ironic that most of the posters on this board prefer the non-Palladino ending over the intended one we were teased with over a decade ago. That those final 4 words held so much gravitas wasn't true to the show at all IMO. Their banter at Luke's in the s7 finale is so much more like many other episodes ended and that's why it feels more natural and organic to me.

Agreed on the character development in s7. I didn't need to see Lorelai in bed with Chris so much, but other things make up for it.

ASP actually wanted Rory to go backwards. By getting Rory pregnant after graduating college, Rory wouldn't have been able to travel and pursue her dreams, she would likely have stayed in SH with her mom, raising the baby. Which is not at all what Rory had wanted to do. I'm so glad ASP didn't write season 7.

Yes, I agree.
