did they even have facebook in 1985?
shareIf you're referring to the facebook website, then no, they didn't even have personal computers in '85 let alone the internet.
Ruby was referring to a "face book", a book of faces and names of your college co-eds. Practically every college had/has these. That is how facebook.com came about.
I went to a big school so I didn't have these, but I know people who had them in little private schools even in recent years.
Essentially, it's like a yearbook, but they give it to you when you start college so that you can recognize people from the start. I've seen some peoples that had interests like music and movies listed, and others that were just pictures with names.
facebook.com is the same idea except that it's harder to find people when you only know what they look like.

Um, keylimesoda, not to be pedantic, but my father had an Apple II at home in 1977, my grandfather had a TRS-80 about the same time.
And as for the internet, ARPANET went online in 1969, and IPSS in 1978. Though, technically, the 'World Wide Web' didn't take off 'til 1990.
