A Noticeable Continuity Error

There is a noticeable continuity error in the original series, and it exists in 2 of the 3 "flashback" cartoons that deal with the beginning of the CLIFFORD "saga": the residents of Birdwell Island meeting Clifford and the Howards for the first time and the building of Clifford's giant dog house.

In the flashback where everyone meets Clifford for the first time, there is a brief "shot" of Clifford waking up in his giant dog house already built and then running when Emily Elizabeth called him.

Then, in the building of the doghouse flashback, it is clear that the doghouse was built BY the residents of Birdwell Island who love Clifford and wanted to do something nice for him after all he's done for the community.

So since we know that the dog house was built by the people of Birdwell Island out of love and appreciation for him, then how could it ALREADY be built before everyone got to know him?

Despite this continuity error, I still enjoy the cartoon and consider it one of the best modern-day cartoons ever made.

I used to like this cartoon what with the late great Ritter in it and all but after your revelation of mass half a$$ed slap dashness on the part of the producers then you can forget it. I feel betrayed , hurt and sad all at the same time. I'm going to name and copyright this new emotion under the word ..... 'Bhas' and when you see it in a dictionary it will be beside a big red dog. Shame on you Clifford you son of a...well... bitch! You ain't nothin' but a lyin', no good, cheatin, big, red......DAWG! And that's ruff!!!!!
Ah...that was pun heaven.

On a side note though.....why did they ditch this cartoon which was great for kids and popular enough to spawn a movie? Yeah I know the reason would have been John Ritter's death but come on guys. I mean the Clifford character was around along time before John got the job and no matter how long John had lived had things worked out different that fatefull day of his death(ie.- a quicker diagnosis), the character would have always outlasted him.
I mean "8 Simple Rules...." I ask. The whole frickin thing was based around him playing a character that was wrote for him yet they carried that sucker on for 2 seasons until it's recent cancellation. That I could buy finishing immediately after his passing as a mark of respect but not Clifford.
I have a feeling that the big Red One will return some day to our screens with a new voice. For the kid's sake i hope its someone equally as talented as the Rittermeister.
Sleep easy John!

You know another mistake I noticed? There was a flash back of when Cleo first arrived Birdwell Island. T-bone was jealous of her because he thought she was winning over Clifford's affection. Blah blah blah...Anyway, in the theme song it shows Cleo and T-bone waiting happily to greet Clifford. Which brings up another point. T-bone didn't look very afraid of Clifford. There was a flash back (Or it was the first episode.) of when Clifford first arrived Birdwell Island and everyone was a little intimidated by him, including T-bone.

Continuity error? This cartoon is about a 40ft tall, bright red dog!
Somehow, I don't believe accuracy was first and foremost in the story writer's minds when they made this ;)

Doesn't matter what it's about; they should always strive to maintain accuracy and continuity. Still, I don't think there's much of an error here...
