The Best Of The Series

Just saw this for the first time.

I've seen most of the others... never was too impressed, but watched this out of curiosity to see where the back story began. (In fact, the rest don't make sense unless you've seen this. You just watch them for the comic book effects.)

Anyhoo, ya know? It's actually a decent =movie=. Not just a 'summer movie' but a decent -movie-, which frankly the others aren't. It has a story and some acting and ya learn a little about the whole rice rocket scene and so on.

The stunts, the directing, the photography are all a LOT more interesting than the frankly 'comic book' sequels.

I kinda wish the original director had carried forward with the series.

This one, and Fast Five are really the only great movies. Furious 7 was pretty solid though. The rest are just less good, but could still be enjoyable.

Completely agree. 1 and 5 are a cut above. I think 7 kinda jumped the shark into being a comic/superhero deal. The violations of the laws of physics are pretty felonious.

However, the single best stunt was the black Buick with Dom/Letty to open 4. Where she yells 'Dom!'... now that's action-packed.

I'm glad you appreciate this. I was a fan of the original and loved the race wars scenes which the others skipped over. It so happens that I am watching it tonight exactly 14 years after it opened in theaters.

May you not rest, as long as I am living. You said I killed you - haunt me, then

I hadn't seen it since '01, but watching it a few hours ago I was really surprised how much I enjoyed it. I've really had fun seeing the last few at the theater, with their over the top stunts and white-knuckle action, but the original feels fresh now because it's lacking all of that. I don't know that it's the best in the series, but it's certainly an entertaining movie in its own right.
