I always enjoyed it more than the first one. Blair Witch 2 was the first movie I ever saw at the local big theater when it first opened when I was just a wee lad who just turned 9. Back then they had 2 or 3 smaller theaters in different locations in my city but then they opened the big amc and shut all the small ones down. Miss you, Twin Cinema. Like I said though, first film I saw at the big theater when it first opened. I had previously seen Scream 2 & I Know What You Did Summer in the smaller theaters back in the day but that's really all I remember about movies I watched as a little snot in theaters. Oh I remember being dragged to some kids birthday party back in the day to watch Disney's Dinosaur in theaters. That realllly sucked. Anyway, Blair Witch 2 is a damn good movie and I'd say one of the last to truly have a 90's horror feel to it. I feel like BW2 also kept the raw style of the first and even amped it up a bit. I've never been the biggest fan of the first one but I can sort of appreciate it now. I don't think I would have liked BW2 if it wasn't shot like a regular movie for the most part. I rented the original when it came out at Blockbuster back in the day and I didn't mind the actual found footage style as I am an admitted fan of all of the paranormal activity films. TBWP was just boring whereas I found BW2 to be an incredibly intriguing and interesting film. With the release of Blair Witch (2016) in September, I'll bet that fans of the franchise will give Book of Shadows a second look and it may even end up being praised by those who will inevitably hate the new sequel. While BWP was something new and fresh to mainstream audiences, I'd argue that the sequel was just as "original" at the time of release and maybe even more so now. I can't think of a single movie to compare Book of Shadows to and I can't say that about many movies. It has aged really well and holds up great. Lots of replay value with BW2, not really much with the first.
