Watched it again last night. Not much to like about it.
shareI don't think I'd call it "better than the first," but it is brilliant in its own right. One has to keep in mind that the cut we have was not the director's original vision. It was taken out of his hands by Artisan and heavily edited in post-production to the point that it was an almost entirely different film.
Even with that, I think it's still extremely creepy and atmospheric, and the acting in it is really great all around. It was a unique concept, and not a rehash of the original material, which is rare.
Loved this movie from the first time I saw it. Don't understand a lot of haters, but chalk it up to people not paying the attention the film requires.
I'd even call it a hidden gem though its beginning to get dated
Agreed, it was so much better than the first which was a very overrated mess.
