though, given his output over the last 20 years, it shouldn't be a suprise.
Brando, DeNiro, Norton, heist story - I truly want to like this movie but there is something about it that I just can't get past. It's almost boring - and I can sit through a good actor doing a simple dramatic reading for an hour without getting bored. I have watched it a half dozen times trying to figure out exactly what it is.
I have to agree with you about this movie. Even 'Island of Dr Moreau' was better. I watched it last night and I'm not about to watch it another six times to figure out what's wrong with it.
The best I can say is that it has the vibe of a USA/TBS Made-for-TV script. Very few special effects or actual action sequences which one would expect from a high=budget flick.
It's sad really. Excellent cast, and they make use of no one but Ed Norton who does shine in it - but still, within the formula, even he seems trapped by the rest of the characters doing absolutely nothing and being of no particular interest.
Also shows how Deniro will just take anything these days and play it the same way he plays everything... also a sad waste, not just for this movie, but for what his career is coming to.
Brando tries hard, he really does. But in the end the script just doesn't make any good use of his character. His character, in particular, probably has an interesting history, but unfortunately we are not privy to any of that in this plot-heavy piece of crap.
And Angela Bassett. Another awesome talent wasted. (How Halle Berry became the in-demand Hollywood black-female-chick and not Bassett, i still don't understand.) Bassett should have said no to this flick just because it's so obvious that the character is really just a token female in an otherwise all male movie.
Whatever you think of the Score, Brando's last movie could have been worse. They wanted him to be in Scary Movie 2, but he couldn't do it for medical reasons. At least he and De Niro got to act together once.
The Score was too much details. Also,Nick, the character of Robert De Niro, has to be someone intensely focused and does not require him to show emotions a lot unlike in his other movies.Jack,Edward Norton's character,is similar to that of his portrayal of his role in the Primal Fear. Finally, the movie did not allow these three great actors to show lots of emotion. But inspite of this,I enjoyed this movie. That is why a lot are disappointed in this movie.
But nevertheless,it was a good last movie for Marlon Brando. He was with other great actors in their generation like Robert De Niro and Edward Norton. The Score was a lot better than Scary Movie 2.LOL
are you series ?they wanted him for scary movie 2 ? ..wow that's sad such a tremendous talent being offered shlub like that .That would be like sticking a gifted student in a SPED class
