The Story of Halloween: Resurrection (2002)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3eGP535Wo8

In this in-depth retrospective, I tell the story behind the making of one of horror cinema's most controversial sequels: Rick Rosenthal's "Halloween: Resurrection" (that's the eighth one). I delve deep into its troubled development, its even more troubled production, and decidedly complicated legacy, all while providing my own thoughts on the film. Starring: Busta Rhymes, Bianca Kajlich, Brad Loree, Ryan Merriman, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Watching the "Halloween: The Homecoming" workprint version, they need to polish these scenes and release an official alternate cut like the Halloween 6: Producer's Cut. After 20+ years it's a SIN this hasn't happened yet when you have a whole alternate version of the movie floating around but as usual a bootleg copy manages to find its way through the cracks. It will definitely give off a better appeal for the movie. Just a shame THIS wasn't the version released and the studio had to mess things up like they always do.

More suspenseful moments, less Busta Rhymes, and as usual MORE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT MOMENTS (which is always getting cut and it's pitiful), you can't ask for much more. Things I would have changed however would be how Michael came back. The paramedic switcheroo still doesn't work for me when you have Chris Durand playing Michael all throughout the movie and the ending stuff where it's to be the "paramedic" doesn't come off as someone else. I would have had Michael in H2O be a copycat entirely (like in the original draft) who just wanted to hunt Laurie down and bring fear in her again, meaning the Michael here is actually the real deal who hasn't crossed paths with her since 1978. This would account for why H2O Michael lacks burn scars from his H2 demise, because it's not actually Michael. Now for the bit where Michael touches his mask and looks confused at the end of H2O, I'd explain this as the copycat being under some spell which caused him to hunt Laurie down and kill her in Michael's honor (who was believed to be dead). After being pinned by the van, he comes to his senses but still isn't able to talk similar to how they wrote this for the paramedic. UGH, THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER.
