Just watched it for the 1st time - Worse than I ever could have guessed!

I have been binge watching the whole franchise (I've seen most of them before, but not this one), and I just finished this one. Before watching it, I knew it had a very low reputation and people hate this one. I really liked a lot of things about every single one before this one, so I wasn't sure what to expect. But man, I never could have imagined it would be anywhere near this bad! It was absolutely awful. The stuff with Laurie in the beginning makes NO sense, her actions are completely irrational given what she knows from her past experiences with Michael Myers. Then for the rest of the movie, every single actor is absolutely embarrassingly awful, especially the two biggest main characters Bianca Kajlich and Busta Rhymes. Cringe-worthy one-liners, a final girl who can't scream, absolutely terrible cinematography (in a franchise that I have always considered a pinnacle in horror photography/lighting/editing, even in the lesser entries), the worst Michael mask in the franchise (somehow!), awful editing and weird pointless slow-mo sequences, a ridiculous and stupid plot with even stupider characters, and WORST OF ALL: A Michael Myers who doesn't act at all like Michael Myers!

What a miserable piece of crap. Truly one of the most disappointing and worst movies I've ever seen. I didn't like one single solitary thing about it. A rare 1/10 for me.

I'm curious as to how you mean Michael not acting like Michael? I mean at least he wasn't unmasked, crying, speaking or wearing a heavy winter coat and growling/grunting a la Halloween II 2009.

As for Resurrection, it is pretty awful, but my takeaways were that it was darker and less Scream-esque, better score and not a Beltrami rip off, hot women Kajlich, Sackhoff and McCracken. A much better Michael than Durand. Much better non CGI mask. Had things in the house been real, another plus. But yes, the guys, the webcam fad, kinda ruined it. JLC's weak exit. All that did it no favors.

By Michael not acting like Michael, I'm mostly referring to his behavior and response to certain characters, particularly Busta Rhymes. It just didn't make sense. Michael just taking that berating? Haha, I don't think so.

Anyway, I *just* finished watching Halloween II 2009 (credits are rolling right now, in fact), and I've got to say that this is also a total bastardization. You're absolutely right. Michael is even less Michael in this one than in Resurrection. I actually really liked Rob Zombie's first Halloween movie, but this one was absolutely terrible. Still not as bad as Resurrection for me, though. Resurrection didn't have any redeeming qualities for me. At least Zombie's second Halloween movie was a competently made film, with good cinematography and special effects, etc. It's just that its entire plot and all of the characters were garbage!

There was a method to that madness. To have two Michaels meant that the college kids wouldn't know which was real or Freddie or even Charlie or someone else, as witnessed with their disbelief at Jen's beheading. They had already discovered the fake bodies, so why not a fake Michael? It made perfect sense. Easier for him to get close to his victims with their guard down knowing there was a fake Michael running around.
