Rank All 9 Halloween Films Here!

Happy Halloween! Check out this order of Halloween films, I pretty much agree with the entire list except for maybe swapping spots 3 and 4. What do you all think?

halloween 1 and 2 (together)
halloween remake
halloween 4
halloween 5
halloween 6
halloween H20
halloween resurrection

i know its a direct order but not counting the remake the movies get *beep* as they go in my opinion

Best to worst:

1. Halloween H2o
2. Halloween 3
3. Halloween 4
4. Halloween 5
5. Halloween The curse of Micheal Myers
6. Halloween
7. Halloween 2
8. Halloween(remake)
9. Halloween Resurrection

This isn't even close to being one of the greatest film series ever, but the first 4 I have listed on the list(3, 4, 5 and H2o) were decently entertaining. 6(curse) was OK. Halloween 1 & 2 are highly over rated and pretty boring in spots. The remake sucked too. And Resurrection is one of the worst horror, wait, one of the worst MOVIES I have ever seen.

I honestly love the curse, to me it was the scariest of the series + darkest.

1. Halloween
2. Halloween 6. The Curse of Michael Myers: It was different than the rest, it went deeper into Michael Myers and attempted to explain things. This was the first one I saw and it still stands up to me as one of the best in the series. This is the one that should be compared to "Jason Goes to Hell" and "A New Nightmare" due to those films also being different from the rest in their series.
3. Halloween 2
4. Halloween 4
5. Halloween H20
6. Halloween 5
7. Halloween by Rob Zombie. Some people like that in the “Halloween” remake the reasons behind Michael becoming a killer are explained. But I find the idea of a regular kid with a normal family turning into a killer to be much scarier. After all, the unknown is often the scariest aspect of life.
8. Halloween Resurrection: It completely undermined the earlier movies.
9. Halloween 3: Michael Myers does make an appearance but only on a TV being watched in the Movie. I thought it was a really terrible thing to call this Halloween 3. I remember when I was renting all the Halloweens as a kid and the women who worked at the video store talking me out of renting this one because it had nothing to do with the two earlier films. I am in her debt for that.

I haven't seen Part 2 by Rob Zombie.

9.H20

H20 is the only one I don't care for in the series, for several reasons. One, my big gripe is that it completely threw away Halloween 4,5,and 6 like they never happened. I think they should have left the Laurie Strode character alone. They never should have changed the story line so drastically as to say forget the last 3 films, which were darn good horror flicks. Two, the damn mask changes a lot in the film. There is at least 3 different versions of the mask in the film that should be the same mask with no changes. There is the Halloween 6 mask at the very beginning, the one that is used for most of the film, and a CGI version that is seen when !!SPOILER!! the Charlie character dies. As a stand alone film its pretty good, but still isn't to my fancy.

Halloween (1978)
10/10
Fantastic movie. Subtle, eerie, everything.

Halloween II (2009)
9/10
Okay, I know this one's getting a lot of flack because it's so...bizarre. But I like how it really takes the concept in a new direction, fleshing out some of the characters in the franchise more than what would be expected. This one wasn't nearly as trashy as its predecessor, taking a much more grim, haunting, and depressing aura. First one since the original to make me feel genuinely uneasy.

Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)
8.5/10
Okay, in all honesty, H20 is a better movie, but I love this one for its shear darkness. The script / acting is definitely lacking in some departments, but overall it comes close to making me feel uneasy (but doesn't succeed fully like the last two I wrote about).

Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later (1998)
8/10
Perfect conclusion to the franchise. Of course, it didn't end here. This movie was very light and 90s teeny-bopper, but the Laurie aspects and how it rounded off her / Michael's arc was perfect.

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)
7/10
Creepy and violent, but also can be laughably stupid at times and the characters aren't very unique in any capacity.

Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)
6.5/10
Technically one of the better sequels, but it just feels really bored to me. Doesn't have any unique flair and just feels like it's imitating the original story without much more to add.

Halloween (2007)
5/10
I like the idea of Michael having a disturbing childhood (even though that doesn't quit line up with the original concept) and I enjoy watching the second half of the film (unpredictable as it can be). I do sort of get the Halloweeny vibe from this one. But the disgusting dialogue in the beginning and by so many characters throughout the entire film...all that puts a huge damper on the viewing experience. Not because it's disgusting, but because it is disgusting AND used in unrealistically vast amounts.

Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
4.5/10
Part with Laurie is good. From there on, it's pretty run-of-the-mill. Atmospheric enough, but the characters and situations are so DULL and uninspired.

Halloween II (1981)
2.5/10
This one is just so dull. Always a chore to get through.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1985)
0/10
Probably a decent movie in its own right, but the only time to watch it is during a Halloween binge, and its existence just sort of bothers me, because part of me wants to acknowledge it, but another part of me doesn't because it's just a complete departure from anything Myers-related.

The heart has its reasons, which reason knows nothing of.

Remakes Suck

10) Halloween: Resurrection- after a step back in the right direction with H20, the series took a huge mis-step with this silly festival of cliches and awfulness. From a laughable retcon that tried to justify the ending of H20 as having not been what we thought, to the ludicrous "reality show" idea that not only was corny, but also dates the movie, to the lame humor and all-around awful performances, this is the worst. It's still worth checking out for laughs, but nothing more. I'd give it a 3.5 out of 10.

9) Halloween III: Season of the Witch- an utterly forgettable movie that borrows the series name but not characters for a corny tale about a company that plans on killing children with Halloween masks, and features all sorts of oddball robots and effects and whatnot. Lame movie. 4.0 out of 10.

8) Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers- Psychics, mysteries and retcons... Oh, my! Corny but it has its moments, this is one of the weaker entries. 4.5 out of 10.

7) Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers- While it is arguably the most "out-there" entry, for some reason I found this entertaining. Yeah, it wasn't good, but it was adequate and from what I've heard, the fabled Producer's Cut is much better. 5.0 out of 10 strictly for entertainment value.

6) Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers- an unneeded return movie that I personally didn't like, but will admitt sets the stage for future installments quite nicely. 5.0 out of 10.

5) Rob Zombie's Halloween 2- Nowhere near as bad as it's being made out to be. Entertaining but a little "blah" at times, I'm going to reserve judgement until the DVD comes out, because just seeing it in theaters gives me the feeling there's a Director's Cut. Michael is insane in this one, and it deffinitly has my favorite kills of the series thus far. A 7.0 out of 10 just for entertainment value.

4) Halloween II- Great sequel. Really built on the foundation of the original, though there were some obvious problems here and there. It worked for what it was, and very easilly could have ended the series. 7.5 out of 10

3) Halloween H20: 20 Years Later- After the mistakes of III-VI, this film really returned the series to its roots, and delivered what was at the time a very satisfying conclusion to the saga. 8.0 out of 10

2) Rob Zombie's Halloween- A very interesting way to reboot the series, Rob Zombie's film was shocking, entertaining and took the series in a new direction, without disregarding or bringing shame to the original. While some fans have the "it sucks simply because it isn't the original" mentality, this is still a movie not to miss. I'd give it an 8.5 out of 10.

1) Halloween- The original... the best... need I say more? It really set the stage for a new wave of horror entertainment and arguably single-handedly birthed the modern slasher-genre. Perfectly written, masterfully directed... this movie just hits all the buttons correctly.

1 - Halloween 1& 2 - John Carpenter/Debra Hill
2 - Rob Zombie's Halloween 1 & 2
3 - Halloween 6
4 - Halloween 4
5 - H20

7 - Halloween Resurrection
* Halloween 3 is it's own entity and should never have been introduced as part of the series, however it is not as bad as people say.

Also, Rob Zombie's Halloween is only inferior to Carpenter/Hill's due to the fact without the original there would be no reboot.

Halloween 1&2 are one movie

1.)Halloween 2-A great follow up to the movie that set the stage, personally my favorite.

2.)Halloween-The original, enough said

3.)Halloween 2 Rob Zombie-Despite harsh reviews, I found this installment very entertaining and a daring entry that definetly pays off.

4.)Halloween remake-An interesting spin on the character we know as the "Shadow"

5.)Halloween H2O-A great way to revive the franchise, one of the best sequels

6.)Halloween 4-far from perfect, but better than the other sequals

7.)Halloween 5-an okay movie, continues what I thought was a good story from H4,but a rather far cry as to how Myers survives, although everything is a far cry in horror films

8.)Halloween Ressurection- An enjoyable film, presents a good and new idea to the franchise

9.)Halloween 6-actually tries to provide some history to the Halloween story, a solid sequel

10.)Halloween 3-a good standalone movie, give it a new name so we don't expect to see Michael Myers, and maybe it doesn't get all the negative reviews.

I loved all the Halloween films, so this is a really tight list for me

I haven't seen Halloween 3 (and won't), 5, 6, or Rob Zombie's sequel. But I'll rate what I have so far. Should be watching the 5th one tonight.

1. Halloween (1978)-The best of the series, and its kind 8/10
2. Halloween H20- The best sequel.
3. Halloween 4-Awesome reintroduction to Michael. Great performances all around and some really good direction from Dwight Little.
4. Halloween 2-Not bad
5. Halloween Resurrection--Haven't seen it in a long time. Just bought it today. I remember it being below par, quite below.
6. Rob Zombie's Halloween--Interesting, but why white trash Rob? So much more interesting if Michael is from a middle class family. 5/10

Mine would be :
1. Halloween (1978) : THE Classic one.
2. Halloween II (2009) : I'm sorry for those who didn't, but I really liked it, a daring new vision to the franchise and I loved the ending.
3. Halloween H20 : Great new take over the series and good come-back for Jamie Lee Curtis.
4. Halloween II (1981) : Good follow-up to the first one.
5. Halloween (2007) : Great remake, Zombie's version is great on character developpement
6. Halloween 4 : Good and scary, great atmosphere.
7. Halloween 5 : Not bad of a follow-up to Halloween 4.
8. Halloween III : Not too bad for what it is, it just ruins the series. I don't count it as one of the franchise.
9. Halloween Resurrection : ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. The only Halloween I hate. It ruins the awesome ending of H20 with a ridiculous reboot that could never have worked. Dumb characters (Busta Rhymes, etc.), stupid plot, and JAMIE LEE CURTIS!!!!!!!! Good opening scene but the rest is just terrible. Should have ended-up with H20, way better ending to the series.
