sequel idea

For the supposed sequel they're occasionally planning for this continuity.

Copycat killer. The Michael Myers in the Zombie films had too notorious of a look to be impersonated by anyone.

But the original continuity, basically anyone of roughly the same size could put on that infamous mask and taken at a glance for Michael Myers. So maybe the new movie could be regular plot as we know it, but then, near the end, we find out the killer is some random nutjob who either wants to be like Michael and/or has reasons for killing and figured do it on Halloween as Michael to evade suspicion. Then, the real Michael would show up and kill him.

Not terribly original, I know, and they've sort of touched on it in other films, but, it'd be a fun twist, and these movies mostly aren't really masterpieces ;)

Similar, but not quite.

What you're referencing from H20 is that Laurie killed the paramedic instead of Michael. The reason this didn't go over was because it was tacked on at the beginning of the following film, as a cheap way to justify Michael's return.

What I'm talking about is a twist as to who the killer is for an entire installment, and shown at the end, thus clearly planned.

I would have the story in 2018, which celebrates the 40th anniversary of michaels first rampage in haddonfield and the town wsnts the myers house which is now a historic landmark museum since the events of resurrection since it is a reminder of past trauma. John returns who is now 37, the same age laurie was 20 years earlier which seems to be a pattern. He is now married to molly with twins and works as a crisis counselor for trauma victims. He knows michael will come back one last time to settle the score thinking he is the last one left. However linsday visits him telling him tommy and kara have been kidnapped by the thorn cult and learns of jamie being his sister and mephew stephen.

Mine is more a gathering of survivors, like House on Haunted Hill, where Brackett, Hunt, Tommy, Lindsay, John, Molly, even Ronnie, Freddie and Sara all get together anonymously and Michael shows up, offs some of the former survivors and leads to a final confrontation where the remaining ones turn the tables on him and stalk the stalker. Ties it up nicely.

That would've been fun. I don't know how one could get all the actor's back, but it's a nice thought.
