There was a scene where a nuclear explosion went off and the Towers family were killed. Explain the entire scene please.
shareIt's been a while since I've seen this, but I think the scene you're referring to is when the captain is in an Alaska home (when they're making the trip to investigate the source of the signal), and he sees the dead family in bed. Suddenly he imagines what must have happened to his family, and you see a reimagining of the bomb going off as if this family was *his* family. Basically he loses his mind for a minute, and then is able to recover and continue with the mission.
