Bryan Brown's still doing that character he does.

I always get upset when I see Australian films, or any film really and see Bryan Brown still shouting his lines. Is it the scriptwriters, or does he modify his lines to ensure the inclusion of "bllaaaardy helll" every three lines, and loud, arrogant cock-sureness? Actually it seems that no Australian film can be financed unless Bryan Brown or Colin Friels or Steve Bisley get to walk in and shout their "Parental Guidance"-friendly swears... And is it just me or is the mere sight of Mark Mitchell depressing? He sort of went from Australia's most prominent comedian to somebody who resembles a grief counseller.
Lovely to see Jacqueline as always. She's so nice.

That's all.

That's funny!

And Bill Hunter. It's illegal to make a film in Australia without Bill Hunter.

Bryan is capable of more, but it's blaaady true. He does do that quite often. :)

He acts as poorly as Rachel Ward! Haven't improved much since the Thorn Birds have they :)

reply

Oh, I dunno... at least Rachel Ward's easy on the eyes. And she can give plausibility and some degree of sympathy to Moira, possibly the least sympathetic character in the whole story, so I don't see that she's all that poor an actress. Better than her hubby Brown, that's for sure.

(However, Brown's been allowed to skate on whatever charm he possesses, as in the "F/X" franchise of films here in the US, so it's not clear that anyone's ever asked him to put the pedal to the metal, acting-wise, since "The Thorn Birds.")

Well, I never knew Rachel Ward was married to Brown...

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000986/bio has the rundown -

"Spouse
Rachel Ward (16 April 1983 - present) 3 children"
