Miscasting

This movie tells a sweet love story that would have been better served by unknown actors. I mean, there's nothing surprising about Greg Kinnear playing the smug love interest and no suspense that he'll be left by the movie's end. Mean Suvari was fine, but Jason Biggs was a mistake. Sorry, but he just doesn't look very Mid-West. Jack Lemmon played this character, the lovable schlub, with so much more skill in The Apartment. Biggs is adequate, but not a movie star.

Not Mid-West, definitely losery. And this movie isn't called "Mid-Western Guy" for a reason. Although I don't especially like Jason Biggs and his American Pie series of garbage level comedies, I enjoyed this one, and his acting.

i dont at all understand your logic in argueing against Jason biggs
Jason Biggs was fabulous in this role

"Biggs is adequate, but not a movie star." what do you mean you wish that they used a star???

"would have been better served by unknown actors" this sorta cancels out the above statement of yours

why is being midwest even relevant? it doesnt effect the reality and the impact of the romantic tale on us
