agreed! closest to the book (I think) and to the spirit of it, and gets across the REASON why Scrooge is such a b*st*rd, in that he's led a hard life, which makes it so much more touching than simply portraying him as evil kind of by default, in which case his redemption seems fake. Far more emotioinal for him to appear to recapture somehing he had lost a long time ago.

There's been a lot of adaptations and most are good, but this could well be the best, Patrick Stewart is perfect for the role.

Although for a bit of hollywood excess, American-style humour, and a clever postmodern take on the story, its hard to beat 'Scrooged'. Bill Murray is great in everything he does.

This remake's my favorite too. It's almost scene-by-scene from the book, in my opinion. Patrick Stewart was *wonderful* in the lead role.

I can't decide where my favorite scene is, though. :D

Even though someone in another message mentioned "Silent Night" was an inconsistency, I think it goes good in the movie. It's always been my favorite Christmas carol.

Several scenes in this outdo any other version. I refer specifically to the "Silent Night" sequence with the Ghost of Christmas Present, and (not to make a spoiler) the last thing that happens with the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. These are just more awesome than anything I've seen done in other productions. The scene with Ignorance and Want, left out of some productions, was also well done here.
