I thought this adaptation of A Christmas Carol was very good and Patrick Stewart's portrayal of Scrooge, excellent... The film was a bit stagey in places, which usually doesn't work, but it did here.

I agree. I also thought that it followed the story perfectly right down to the dialogue.
shareIt's a good version. I think it's valuable in that it's the only modern live-action version that's capable of taking advantage of vivid color film and computer-generated effects.
Stewart is good, but not perfect. Sim is still, and probably always will be, the best Scrooge.
My biggest problem with this version is that it's occasionally obvious that it was shot on a sound stage and the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come looks a little ridiculous.
