Hi! Just watched this film for the twentieth time (ish) and wondered if anyone could tell me what instrument the musician in the 'minstrel's gallery' at Fezziwig's Christmas party is playing? It looks like a bent bit of pipe with a mouthpiece, with three(?) bends in it..Thanks in advance !

I haven't watched the movie yet this Christmas so can't recall from the scene but from your description, it sounds like an obsolete wind instrument called a serpent. Did it look like this photo on Wiki?

Yes, it did! Unfortunately you don't get a great view of it in the film, but it could very well have been a 'serpent'. Thanks for the swift reply and info.
