I Hope the Film Isn't a Direct Adaptation

There are so many cool possibilities for an original story with a live-action Bebop crew, and I'd love to see something new rather than a live-action adaptation based on key moments in the show.

That being said, if they could pull it off, I still wouldn't mind a straight-up adaptation.

There's not going to be a film adaptation. Keanu Reeves, who was the driving force behind it, already stated it'll cost $500 million to do the film that he and Sunrise want to make, and no one will back it, it's dead in the water.

As for another anime film, Watanabe said he's told everything he's wanted to say about Spike and the crew of the Bebop, so that's not happening either.

Ron *beep* Swanson is the greatest thing that ever happened to television.

$500 million? That's fkn ridiculous. You can make a decent film for 200mil easy. They are shooting for way too much. They have to remember this is a niche audience show. In order to bring it to the general public you have to be a little bit more modest.

I think the problem is that studios probably don't wanna take the big risk of giving the film a big budget and it flops big time but I truly feel like a live action Cowboy Bebop could work, if they took the approach of Guardians of the Galaxy and have the characters meeting and teaming together and not being together in the 1st movie, that would be the best bet and than looking at the anime to really flesh out the look and feel, what type of villain they can use, the music, etc

I guess it could work either way, but I see your point.
