why does keanu think a live action would cost 500 million?

I don't understand why people say bebop will cost far too much as a movie. The series Is mainly set on a ship in space and has also partly set on earth just like the recent star trek movies and guardians of the galaxy. I don't know where Keanu reeves got the idea of a 500 million budget from?

There have already been scripts created. The script in question, to do it the way they want it done, is projected to cost $500 million. Of course it's unlikely we'll get our hands on that script..I can see it costing quite a bit to do a quality Bebop movie.

If The Avengers cost $220M, with all those contracts and general costs/visual effects, I don't think Cowboy Bebop would be that much more. However, it is still a huge risk, though could pay off on the International market.

Part of the avengers budget was spent on big time named actors, Bebop doesn't have to be.

500 mil is a ridiculous number. They are smoking some crack laced with red eye.

$200-250 million would be my guess to do a proper Cowboy Bebop film. Star Wars The Force Awaken's had a budget of $200 million. If a modern Star Wars film cost that much, I don't see why Cowboy Bebop would cost much more.
