Ed's story arc (spoilers)

I kind of liked Ed. She was an interesting character.

It was sad. I knew when Ed left that the show was coming to an end. I thought, this is the beginning. The group's gonna split up some how.

You are sin.

Last time I watched back in 2016 I got pretty emotional seeing them both leave. At the time in my life I was losing a best friend, she was getting old and I knew she was gonna die (leave me) sometime soon. So it hit me even harder to see Ed and Einie go.

I'll have to rewatch the show, but I cannot remember if she gives any reason she left? But I can say it felt like she was making the right choice and moving forward in her life.


Jet finally got his closure from his tragic past, but was still a retired cop and was gonna spend his golden years bounty hunting so his future is pretty decided. Albeit he is not so depressed anymore, and more hopeful with his life.

Spike never dealt with his tragic past in a healthy way, and ultimately his past caught up to him and he ended his life by taking out the bad guy responsible.

Faye can never get closure, as she does not remember who she was and the videotape makes her more sad as she cannot reclaim that innocent hopeful girl she once was.

Ed is young with a life ahead of her, one she can make positive. She learned valuable lessons on the Bebop and hopefully she carried that forward with her. Even Einie was smart enough to know to get out while the getting is good. We all have to move forward in our lives regardless of fear or depression. We cannot allow ourselves to be held back or "stuck" in the past. Ed leaving is a positive message for us all.

Maybe we got sad because we dont want to see change, but we know it is inevitable and we all need to do it periodically in our own lives.
