Question about Lulu (Spoilers)

Is Lulu the same character who falls madly in love with Yuddy (Leslie Cheung) in Days of Being Wild? (The girl who follows Yuddy in the Philippines.)

There's a scene wherein Chow Mo-wan (Tony Leung) recalls how Lulu would talk a lot about her boyfriend: "A Chinese Filipino from a rich family. You planned to marry him. But he died young. You said he was the love of your life."

I think Chow's talking about Yuddy. And Chow was seen (grooming himself and probably going to a party or something) by the end of Days of Being Wild. So it's possible that Lulu and Chow met each other after the end of Days of Being Wild.

Even the minor characters have interesting stories to tell. And almost all of the characters (regardless of what film they're in) are connected with each other in such a fascinating way. That's what I love about WKW's films. Amazing.

Real nice. Thanks. It seems like WKW carefully connected all of his characters; like the way a tailor meticulously knits every single thread to make a fine dress.

Yes you have it right .. same character.

Officially described as an "echo" more then a continuation (which just means they took some license in not being totally consistent).

Her character starts in Days of Being Wild. Tony Leung is introduced in the epilogue -- it was really intended to be a teaser for Days of Being Wild Part 2 (the sequel)-- but they liked it so much they just added it to the end of the movie.

Because Days of Being Wild did not make enough money -- the sequel was cancelled. Therefore in 2046 they are catching us up on the parts of the story which would have been in that sequel.

Pretty interesting.

Pretty interesting.

Indeed.

Because Days of Being Wild did not make enough money

I wonder why. The film is pretty good. It has an engaging plot and a relatively nice cinematography (one of Doyle's earliest).
