Something really connected with me in this film

My life feels somewhat reinvigorated after watching it and I feel happier.. I wasn't too fond of Chungking Express either and didn't have high expectations for this, but the sheer romanticism of the film blew me away and made me appreciate life a lot more again.. really wonderful, beautiful film

I felt 2046's excellence lied more in its characterisation. I understand what you mean by romanticism, though its not the word I would use to describe the characters' relationships. Chow's feelings of regret and his self-isolation kept him away from true romance.

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.
