This movie made absolutely no sense.

It's a typical French film.

Basically, it's a love story about two introverts who finally find each other.

I'm really not sure what it is you have a problem with. All of those characters and plot lines are significant, as every experience takes her further away from being a terrified and lonely person, and closer to being a person who can pursue love. Which elements did you think were a waste of time, or unresolved?

just watched it. had the same reaction. i appreciate the artsy feel?? colors were really pretty, unique cinematography.. but that's it for me. there were some lines that made me think/made an impression but i can gardly remember them now.. also didnt appreciate the characters especially Amelie :// what bugged me most was when she called Nino to come to the cafe place, he recognized her but she denied it was her in the picture... like.. wth?? for me this just dragged and dragged and was happy when it was finally over.

In essence, it's a pretty simple story. A young, lonely girl in Paris finds friendship and love through a series of good deeds.

It's artfully told. It concentrates on the comical, and sometimes sad, details of life.

Concentrate on the central story and chuckle at the small side details.
Whenever I talk to people about this movie, I love to mention when the scene where the narrator says Amelie likes to dip her hand into bags of grains. Who doesn't??

This movie is whimsical, funny, nostalgic, imaginative, and unconventional (to me).

I can see how it might not be everyone's cup of tea. But it's supposed to be a fun movie. And it's supposed to make you feel good.

C'est la vie.
