This movie made absolutely no sense.
I chose Amelie while I was perusing Netflix and really thought I would love this film, but I can't say that I do.
Audrey Tautou was resplendent, and there were wonderful moments sprinkled throughout the film (the movie theater, her dissolving into water) but as a whole, the movie had no focused, singular narrative, and rather than being interesting in that aspect, it felt unfocused and frustrating.
When it finished, I was surprised by how many scenes were in this film that really had no value at all. Too many plot lines started that ultimately had no meaning for the central storyline (Amelie finding love) and just felt like wasted time.
Does anyone else feel this way? Yes, the film was charming, but ultimately lacking.
The world looks to Sweden.
