Was Jerry Lewis as the star

I would think that Jerry Lewis would be too old to star in the movie, and how old are Herman Boone and Bill Yoast are supposed to be? And plus Boone is black and is Denzel Washington supposed to be the star? And if I remember correctly isn't Jerry Lewis white?

You may be on to something there. I retract my suggestion and will consider roles for Benedict Cumberbatch.
