i thought it was totally over the top, the actual accident. when gerry sees his buddies he gets all excited and is shouting at them and not looking as he starts driving really fast? the first time i saw it i knew he was going to get into an accident, i was half expecting it to be a bystander or something, but at least the truck driver wasnt injured
actually....they way the accident happened, they did do it for the movie. It didnt happen like they showed .....
Gerry Bertier was injured in an automobile accident and paralyzed for the rest of his life from the waist down. However, this did not happen until after the 1971 regular football season was already over; he played in all 13 games. It was also not, as depicted, due to being hit by another car: Bertier lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a utility pole; the cause was determined to be mechanical failure in the engine's motor mount.
Plenty of movies do that type of stuff when based on a true story. Need the drama and effects which the original story will usually won't provide enough of.
Exactly. I don't recall the actual score but in the real game, they blew out their opponent. By moving when he got injured it gave them a believable reason for why the game would be close.
