"I need to look people in the eyes" makes no sense

Now, it might've been 'in the eye', so I am probably paraphrasing. (I was going to mention how it makes no sense to talk about looking 'in the eye', when people usually have two eyes people look in, but then again, human vision can usually only look at one thing at a time, a very small area indeed, so the eyes have to dart around a bit to form a 'whole view' - it was really annoying to realize this fact, as I had never thought of before, so I thought people could just 'see a room', for example, but they can't)

Now, this movie and especially things our unrealiable narrator talks about makes a point about Lenny's ability to detect if someone is lying or not, a skill that became crucial in his current condition (though he talks about himself, his situation, his condition, AS IF he can remember A LOT OF THINGS after the indicident, as in 'I am not too good on the phone'. How the FJORD would he remember and know that?!)

But he can NEVER detect if anyone is lying from just looking at them. Teddy tells any darn lie to him, and he can't detect it as a lie. The only reaason he doesn't believe him is because he reads the back of the photo every time.

Natalie lies Lenny's face so full, you'd expect his face to burn off, and Lenny just nods and tells her to 'write it all down' - NO LIES DETECTED!

Why are we TOLD Lenny has an ability that we are then SHOWN is worth nothing, does not work or even exist? WHY?!

Bad writing is something even these oh-so-praised, wonderfully clothed emperors can't escape.

The entire eye-looking thing is a crock of shit. Gazing at other people's eyes makes some people uncomfortable. It doesn't mean they're lying. It doesn't mean they're guilty. It doesn't mean a damned thing, except that eye-staring feels awkward to them.

You seem to have forgotten that Lenny is a deranged psychopath who routinely lies to himself to make his existence bearable.
