I don't get it
I gave this a couple of watches and still I really didn't get what was going on. Could someone help me out on what's going on in this movie?

shareOh, man, where to start.
Ok, so they only thing we know for sure is that Lenny walked in on his wife being assaulted while in the shower. From there, there are two interpretations, depending on whether you believe Lenny or Teddy's story:
- If you believe Lenny's, his wife dies after she's raped and he loses his memory- Sammy is an actual percent he treated, and now Lenny's on a quest to kill his wife murderers.
- If you believe Teddy's, Lenny's wife didn't die in the attack, but Lenny did lose his memory. She was diabetic, and it was Lenny that accidentally killed her with insulin shots- therefore the Sammy story isn't real, it's just Lenny projecting his own story. Teddy's version brings up a memory where Lenny is being with his wife, who actually was diabetic.
I thought it was actually up to the audience to decide whether Lenny killed his wife or not. My opinion? He did, and Sammy is nothing but a projection of his own story, a story he should technically not be able to remember but actually remembers through a fictional (or partly fictional) character.
It's a Nolan movie, though. I wouldn't expect it to have an actual closed ending.
I would also add that regardless of which way you interpret it, Leonard is basically finding people that match "the killer" and has been setting them up as his own target, to give him something to live for.
