Question

Why did Claude's father attempt to suddenly, out of the blue, molest Claude, and then say something along the lines of "nobody loves me"? I didn't get that scene. I'd greatly appreciate your responses.

A really interesting part of the film that baffles me a little. Before he goes into Claude's room he is looking with fondness at the photos of his son, who earlier he remarked looked very much like his wife. Being drunk probably affected his perception of who his son was at that point, but it did make me wonder about abuse in the father's background that he would seek sexual solace for love in his son.
