The only story I liked in this movie was........(obviously spoilers)

The very short on involving Ken Park. The other stories lacked any real depth and were more caricatures than anything else. The kids appeared in scenes together but there was little explanation on how they got there or why they were connected. I understand that on some level they were just the kids that lived in the neighborhood and were connected through skateboarding but the connection was not fleshed out well in the movie.

I didn't mind the boy's affair with the middle aged woman and I know that stuff does in fact happen but having her daughter home was a little over the top. It also really didn't seem to go much of anywhere but I'm not really demanding that it should have. Still it seemed thin when looked at as a whole.

The angry father was just too angry. Clark failed to capture any grey area at all with both of these parents. Sure, they were supposed to be trash but they had no human qualities at all which makes me think that Clark misunderstood trash in general. This story was less than compelling from all angles and not just the execution.

Peaches and the religious father was shot well and you could almost feel the father's anger. I didn't like that he took it too far and tried to marry her. Seemed like they were just pushing for shock value at this point just to shock. He could have been obsessed with her without ever admitting such a thing to himself. In any event the sequence was more or less ignored in the greater scope of the story. The beaten BF just goes away, the father just lets her out and Peaches is soon involved in a threesome that came out of nowhere. The threesome was really out of place given the pace of the story telling to that point.

I actually did enjoy the grandparents killing story but felt it was hopelessly out of place. The female tennis watching scene was also pretty unnecessary and really only seemed to play for shock value. The problem for me is that I'm not easily shocked and these things don't bother me. Male nudity doesn't shock me in the least and neither did his choking method. I would have liked to see this one brought to life more but really perhaps it didn't need to be. His reasons for his actions were well stated.

Ken park on the other hand eclipsed all of these stories in a very short amount of time and I wouldn't have wanted to see more. The end was brilliantly shot and the story was told with perfect timing. The moment she puts the idea in his head his mind is made up to the point of the mechanical execution we see in the opening scene. Ken sees his rather sad world changing in a way he can't compromise with and decides to abort it.

Me too, that was the only interesting bit, and a little bit moving, when they forgot him first and remember..
The only other scene I like but more for hilarity is when the movie father of Renfro comes home drunk and pees and drinks beer simultaneously...
