I want this Mel back :(((

Good looking, charismatic....the PRE ranting Mel....sigh, can it ever be possible again?

I just watched this again last week and it made me SAD :(

Do love the movie still, though...

reply

I hope so. He's such a fantastic actor, it's a shame what has happened. I don't know if his career will ever recover

Do not pity the dead Harry. Pity the living..and above all, those who live without love

reply

Agreed. He's a fantastic actor, but an even better director. I'll be satisfied if he keeps making epic movies (The Patriot, Apocalypto etc).

Last watched: The Young Victoria

I want Mel back, too. Somewhere along the line, these amazing actors and celebrities fall by the wayside and nobody ever let's them forget it. I think the charismatic Mel is still in there and he could easily turn the clock back on his looks, some gym and cosmetic work and he's be raring to go.

It did strike me as interesting the scene between the psychiatrist Bette Midler and Mel. It was a good one with lots of humorous undercurrents and chemistry. It was made even more delicious in light of what we learned LATER was Mel's disdain for Jews. If Bette had even suspected that, I doubt she would've taken the role. A number of cast members are Jewish, in fact. One can hardly make a movie without them which is probably a main reason Mel's hardly seen in Hollywood productions any more. I must say that, even in a drunken rant, a person dissed my entire ethnic heritage like that, I would never associate with them ever again in life or career or support any of his projects.

reply

How does he hate jews ? I don't know who came up with this sh*t. All he said was ''Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world''. That doesn't make you anti-semitic.

reply

THANK YOU! The man didn't exactly say, "All Jews should die horribly." NO, he said something that could possibly be true, given the amount of Zionist Jews, controlling banks for so long.

About the other thing, the rant featured on YouTube, telling his evil ex-wife he hopes she gets raped by a pack of n*****s, I think that was straight up anger. I mean, he is not racist. He was best friends with Danny Glover and Whoopi Goldberg. Whoopi has even gone on TV to say that while he may be acting like a jackass, Mel is NOT a racist.

reply

Yeah, good flick ad he was hunky.

🐺 Boycott movies that involve real animal violence (& their directors) 🐾

reply

I have a hard time believing anyone who isn't a racist goes around saying things like "hope she gets raped by a bunch of n*****s"

reply

He's not. He's always treated others with respect. He was mad and drunk. People are stupid when drunk.

Glover said he still loves Mel. He doesn't "hate" anyone. 40 years of wonderful and two bad moments of anger and drunkenness doesn't define a person. Everyone says how respectful he's always been to them; that is not a mean person.

"Guys like you don't die on toilets." Mel Gibson-Riggs, Lethal Weapon

reply

That Mel is gone.

He is also a lot older. His A list days are gone, he can become a character actor.

It's that man again!!

reply

Sadly, I don't think we'll ever see the old Lethal Weapon type of Mel Gibson ever again. Those days are long gone and he pretty much put it behind him after the whole rant in 2006.

What a shame, he hasn't been in anything notable that I have seen since We Were Soldiers (2002). I guess he really loves producing and directing more than acting.

reply

It was that dumb Jesus movie he made! Just as happened with Coppola on Apocalypse Now, Mel lost his marbles after making that snuff porn religitard spectacle. After that, we haven't seen the same affable and funny Mel in years! And then there were the comments about Jews starting all the wars of the world! Although some might argue there is some degree of truth in those words, it is not something one shrieks in an industry dominated by them. His implosion was inevitable.

reply

i want Mel back, not for his acting but for his directing

so many movies, so little time
