it's good!

I'd just like to say this is a really nice film.

Thank you very much.

Loved some of their work with The D Generation. Pity I only saw the tail end of that sketch series. Loved their special on commercial tv, "The D Generations country homestead", I think it was called. Think that had the It's Academic game show sketch.

Hey, not verbatim, but you get the idea.

I liked THE CASTLE.
Yesterday I saw THE DISH, broadcasted on Dutch Television (The Netherlands, Europe). Being quite a Sam Neill supporter, and reading about the topic of this film, and also it being a comedy, I started watching.
And loved it. A wonderful film this is, funny, even exciting, with good music in it and good acting.
Keep it up Australia!

I'm not a Sam Neill fan, though he is in the excellent Australian costume drama My Brilliant Career. He is also in the terrific horror mindbender In the Mouth of Madness.

The Dish is probably my favourite Australian comedy, though I do want to reacqaint myself with some other favourites such as Bad Boy Bubby/Sweetie/ and Two Hands, which are also great, from memory, especially BBB.

Delved into my older posts and noticed this reply to my earlier post. In case you are still here:

If you don't see The Dish as comedy, are you suggesting it is a docu-drama? There have been threads on this boards where people get angry at the liberties taken with the truth in this film-things like the role of the dish being overplayed in the movie as there was another dish in Australia which did most of the hard work. I would guess that most of the characters in the movie were fictional. So, to me, it is not really a drama at all.

I recommend In the mouth of madness, so long as you don't mind playful horror movies. If you enjoyed Scream, you might enjoy this movie, though it's not really funny like Scream was. Like I say, it's more of a mind-bender than anything else.
Didn't get much out of Event Horizon myself-pretty forgettable.

"Dead Calm" is one of my favorite Sam Neill movies. Well, was, before I found "The Dish". such a shame hardly anybody ever saw it.

The Dish was a fine film, a definite sleeper hit in my mind. This is the second Sitch film I've seen (The Castle being the first) and I have found The Dish everything I was hoping it would be. Encouraging and so identifiably Australian without being stereotypical, this film is easy to relate to, even as Canadian myself and thus being so far removed from the events and people. A credit to the script and the filmmaker to bring such a great story to light. Can't recommend this film enough.

Agreed. It's a gem.

It's a Geoffrey Rush thing, you wouldn't understand! Captain of Team Barbossa

Yeah, I was impressed. Not a Sam Neill fan, but when he's good...he's good.
