Just to say that there is NO WAY that a steel thin rod would stop a hydraulic ram from jamming in the garbage truck. The power on these trucks is severly emmense and can push out refuse upto 15 tonnes worth.
Glad the wagon was empty mind else he'd have been mega tightly packed!!!
I am not arguing whether you are right or wrong just that it is not a "thin steel rod" It was a weightlifting bar. The kind you can stack hundreds & hundreds of pounds of weight on. Maybe it would 'Jam' the crusher.

I say that there is no way that a garbage truck could really be that clean and not smell so horrible that you'd drop your weightlifting bar and be happy to be crushed!
