Awful movie

Too bad my boy Steve B. had to be associated with it. This was the most unrealistic prison movie I think I've ever seen. Defoe was not at all believable as a hard ass. The little "gang" that they were in was like an old ladies sewing circle. They cared about each other and laughed and told jokes, and took in faggy little Furlong immediately. Oh and that shot dope and stabbed people and talked about raping people...It made no sense.

The only memorable scene was Tom Arnold's scene in the bathroom. Otherwise, an entirely forgettable flick.

Not all prisons are the same and they are certainly not all like the ones from your obviously extensive prisons history. That said, there are min and max prisons, there are prisons in different states with different rules and even differ depending on the warden and other controlling officers.
But really? Ok, maybe this one doesn't convey an honest prison environment but then again what prison movies does? And before you answer that, try to differentiate between what *felt* believable to you and what is the most honest portrayal of a prison environment and the physical, emotional and spiritual conflict inside. And base that on your own experiences, if you have any.
If you don't have any experience to draw on then maybe you should consider you might not be the most qualified person to deem what is and what isn't a "realistic prison movie".

Let's say I have occasion to watch two space movies...say Apollo 13 and then oh...let's say Spy Kids 3D. I might finish and feel that one of these films (hard to say which) played loose with the truth.

Of course, I can say this only because I have a point of reference, I being a well-traveled space explorer and all.

I disagree...even the Tom Arnold scene was...wait...which scene was that again?
